Aussie actor to play muscly Thor
Chris Hemsworth, an Australian actor who had a cameo role in Star Trek, will play the Marvel comic hero Thor, US reports say.
Hemsworth, 25, played Captain James T Kirk’s father in the sci-fi blockbuster.
Marvel ran a search for an actor who showed “athleticism”, say reports.
Thor will be directed by Kenneth Branagh.
Alexander Skarsgard was previously expected to play Thor and Josh Hartnett to play another role.
Hemsworth, like many young Australian actors, got his start in the local hit TV series Home and Away.
