Jenny McCarthy apologises for magazine airbrush claim

Actress Jenny McCarthy has apologised to a US fitness magazine, after saying it airbrushed a picture of her on the front cover.
The mum-of-one, who posed in a red bikini for the May issue of Shape, has issued a written apology that appears in the July edition.
When the magazine came out, McCarthy said, “It is definitely… touched up.
“I have freckles and stretch marks that you do not see here, and they add shadowing to make these muscle things happen that don’t exist on my body.”
In the written apology, the 36-year-old now says, “I didn’t mean to imply that the magazine had done anything to alter the shape of my body on the cover image.
“I was really just joking about the airbrushing make-up that was used to cover up freckles and stretch marks and to highlight the contours of my muscles.
Shape devoted a full page of letters to clear up the issue, publishing both the May cover and the original photo, and challenged readers to compare the pictures.
“Compare these two images and you will see we do not alter the size or shape of anyone’s body, Jenny’s included,” the magazine said.
