Tennis star Serena Williams says she has learned her lesson from her infamous US Open outburst.
Williams lost her cool and went on a fiery rant as she lost her semi-final – even threatening to shove a tennis ball down a female line judge’s throat.
Now she apologised from her outburst and says she will learn from it.
“I am not a robot, and I hope that people can see that,” Serena said on Good Morning America.
“I had really just lost control. First of all I don’t foot fault traditionally, so I was like ‘What is going on? Why are they continuing to call this on me?’
“As a competitor and as someone who is really passionate about her work I got a little bit over excited I think, but most of all I was able to learn from the situation.
“I felt like I wanted to give her (the line judge) a big hug after the whole tirade.
“I would like to tell her I am sorry. There are a lot of athletes out there that get angry at these line judges, but most of all these line judges really do their best.
“I think it is important for people to have downs as well as ups and for you to be able to learn from things like this.
“You have to live in the present and learn from your mistakes in the past so you do not make them in the future.
“I am definitely not known for being out there like this, but I have always had a fiery temper, I am not the quiet one of the Williams’ sisters.
