Juno star Ellen Page spent a month at an eco-village and dug up goat manure on a permaculture course
Juno star Ellen Page has told how she disappeared to an eco-village for a month and dug up goat manure on a permaculture course.
Ellen, 22, was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the 2007 flick Juno and is currently starring in Drew Barrymore’s new movie Whip It.
The actress gained perspective by disappearing for a while and taking some time out.
She said to USA Today: “I went to Oregon to study permaculture and lived in an eco-village for a month outside Eugene. It’s called Lost Valley. It was amazing and exactly what I needed, because there had been the Juno thing, where you’re getting a lot of attention.
“You’re learning how to live in a holistic way with the cycles of the Earth. At one point I was digging goat [manure] and putting it into a wheelbarrow, and while shoveling it, I just went: ‘Oh, my God, this is exactly what I want to be doing right now’.”

Yeah, I studied permaculture with Ellen at Lost Valley Educational Center with Ellen. She was great. We learned so much. The place is awesome.
