Harvard has spoken and they say that Justin Timberlake is their man! The singer/actor was named Man of the Year by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals, the nation’s oldest undergraduate drama club. The group chose Justin because they consider him “one of pop culture’s most influential entertainers”. The former member of NSYNC will receive his honor on February 5th during a special roast thrown at the University. Maybe they can roast him on why he hasn’t made any music lately or why he hasn’t done any relevant movies at all. Anne Hathaway, who won the group’s honor of Woman of the Year, will be joining Justin on that day.
With Nick and Joe pursuing solo gigs and Kevin busy shopping, is there any chance that the Jonas Brothers are no longer a band? According to Joe Jonas, that maybe the case but nothing is set in stone just yet. Joe spoke to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show saying “I think that’s undecided. I know a tour is in the works, and we’re planning one right now. So we’ll have one probably by the end of summer or something. We didn’t have this year totally mapped out like the past few years, because we wanted to have a little break time to figure it all out. I think we will do a tour, for sure, as the Jonas Brothers, but then we’ll see from there.” Could that tour be their farewell?
Heroes star Zachary Quinto has said he plans on stepping away from the Star Trek franchise for the next two years
Quinto, 32, plays the role of evil villain Sylar in Heroes but he hit the big screen last year when he took on the role of Spock in the new version of Star Trek.
However, Quinto said he wants to take on other projects and wants to stay away from Star Trek for a while.
He said: “I’m stepping away from Star Trek for at least two years – no movies, no conventions, no anything for a while.”
Quinto plans on doing other projects during that time and he added: “I want to invite [my fans] along with me on my journey, which is going to take them out of their comfort zone and into other areas and other styles of storytelling.”
The wife of Charlie Sheen, Brooke Mueller, has been discharged from hospital.
But her condition remains serious enough to prevent her from flying, said her lawyer Yale Galanter.
The couple have been under a protective order since an alleged domestic violence outbreak last year while on vacation in Colorado. A judge lifted the order to allow Sheen to visit Mueller in a Los Angeles ICU. But with Mueller’s discharge, the order has gone back into effect, Galanter confirmed.
Mueller was admitted to the hospital with double pneumonia following oral surgery for impacted wisdom teeth. Galanter said she still has fluid in her lungs from the infection. Her concerned doctors were yesterday reported warning her to reduce stress in order to speed a slow recovery from the illness.
A court hearing into the matter in Aspen was set for February 8.
‘The Runaways’ premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this past weekend and I am hearing a lot of good buzz about it. On the red carpet, the movie’s stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning were joined by music icons Joan Jett and Cherie Currie before going in to see the film. I find it so sad that Joan actually looks hotter than Kristen. However, Dakota is definitely growing up beautifully in comparison. Cherie must have been so happy that they cast such a pretty little actress to play her instead of a brooding bitch like Kristen. I can’t wait to see this movie and see just how great Dakota is!
Lovely Bones star Saoirse Ronan has said that she finds fame hard to deal with.
The 15-year-old, who previously starred in the hit movie Atonement opposite Keira Knightley, said she knows that her fame isn’t as much of a problem as it is for some other film stars but she still isn’t comfortable with it.
She said to UK newspaper The Guardian: “I find that hard to deal with, though I don’t have it as bad as the Twilight people or the Harry Potter kids.
“But it is weird. If I notice that a guy is looking at me – a man – I think: ‘Is this a really weird guy staring at me, or does he just recognise me from a film?’”
Leighton Meester’s rumored second single ‘Your Love’s a Drug’ has hit the internet and it is absolutely amazing! I’ve been on the iffy side when it comes to the ‘Gossip Girl’ actress turned singer’s music but I actually like this new song a lot. I like it so much better than her first solo song that she did with R&B crooner Robin Thicke. That’s nothing against Robin though but definitely not his best idea to be part of that song either. All that’s left for Leighton to do now is to actually prove that she can make it in the music business.
Chelsea Clinton got on her bike and raised thousands of dollars for charity – by hosting a spinning class.
The former First Daughter and SoulCycle raised $66,810 for the earthquake victims in Haiti.
Some spinners paid up to $1,500 each for a spot in the 90-minute class held at SoulCycle in New York City, with 100 per cent of the proceeds being donated to the earthquake victims through the Clinton Foundation.
Chelsea was also joined by US stars Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos, who both generously opened their chequebook and participated in the calorie-burning class.
Chelsea, 29, decided to hold the money-raising spin class after travelling to Haiti with her father and former President Bill Clinton.
She said: “Thank you all for being here to support this effort. I hope you all continue to support Haiti over the months and years to come.
“The day after the earthquake struck, the international community fed 3,000 people. Today, people have fed 100,000 people and we actually need to be feeding a million people.
“This demonstrates how much we’ve done but how much more work we have to do. We need a lot of money to do that.”
X Factor boss Simon Cowell has reportedly offered Twilight star Robert Pattinson a record deal.
Cowell, 50, is said to have approached the Twilight actor, 23, about signing a deal and has told him he can have as much money as he wants.
It is claimed since Cowell made the move other companies have expressed an interest and they are now involved in a bidding war.
Pattinson laid down some tracks for the Twilight soundtrack and a source told UK newspaper The Sun: “Robert is reluctant to be turned into a pop star – and takes his music very seriously.
“He is a bit wary of signing up with Cowell who is, of course, associated with X Factor and pop.”
Alicia Silverstone has revealed she became a vegan after deciding she could never eat her pet dogs.
The Clueless star said she used to eat meat, but the prospect of tucking into her canines turned her off eating ANY kind of animal.
She said: “I have three dogs. One day I realised if I wouldn’t eat my dogs, why eat any animals, any meat? Why’s a baby cow different from a dog?
“They have the same joys, same pain.
“At the time I was using an asthma inhaler, suffering with acne, getting allergy shots, on antibiotics.”
She said she became a vegan in 1998 after going to an animal rights’ meeting.
Alicia, 33, told a US newspaper: “You can’t eat bad food. You must understand which food’s good for your body. So I changed my diet. Immediately my weight stabilized, I had more energy, the whites of my eyes grew whiter, nails got strong, skin cleared, medications went down. I healed myself.”
She has since written a book about her experiences called The Kind Diet.
Reality star Kim Kardashian is launching a new gym-wear collection.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has teamed up with Muscle Flex to create a new line of workout clothes because she was tired of never being able to find any that suited her.
The 29-year-old said: “I’ve always been in search [of workout clothes] because I wear the same workout clothes all the time to the gym. I need tight leggings or the perfect-fitting sports bra, so it can be a really good fit.”
When asked if she has now swapped all her old gym clothes for the Muscle Flex range, she said: “I’m just starting to, yes, I’ve been in search for it [sic] and finally found this line! It’s going be really cute and for me when I work out, I think everyone will like it too.”
Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has said sex is important to her but she doesn’t have as much as she used to.
The 38-year-old is married to music producer Chris Hughes and they have a four-year-old daughter, Lexi, together.
Asked if sex is important to her, she said to UK’s Observer Magazine: “Yes. It brings you closer to your partner, and having someone who makes you feel sexy and who desires you is the best compliment in the world.
“Although I don’t have as much of it as I used to – I have a four-year-old child – but it’s still important. I still wear matching underwear.”
Sources are saying that Disney starlet Selena Gomez just banked herself $65,000 for her latest flick ‘Ramona’. It might not be headline news considering that there’s a lot of people who get paid more for a movie but that’s not all for the singer/actress. If the film does well at the box office, Selena is said to rake in another $250,000 to $1 million extra. While Miley Cyrus may have made just for showing up on set for her latest movie, Selena has one up on Miley in the form of a contract for more movie roles with FOX, the company behind ‘Ramona’. They currently have a deal for two more movies with Selena in which she would collect $1 million for the first and $2.5 million for the second. Wow! Selena has made it to the big times!
Jesse McCartney wants everyone to know that if you publish a nude photo of him, even one that looks like him, he will sue you. A photo has apparently surfaced showing what looks like a naked Jesse, laying on a bed with a candy G-string, fully exposed. According to the New York Post, it’s being shopped around by an angry ex of the singer. Jesse’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, has fired off a cease and desist letter to any website that would dare publish the photo. She said that the publication of the photo “would be a grave invasion of Mr. McCartney’s privacy rights” and that she’ll seek monetary damages if anyone does publish it.
Emily Blunt says she escaped a speeding ticket in Los Angeles because she looks like Barbie on her driver’s licence.
The Devil Wears Prada actress was recently pulled over for driving over the speed limit in Tinseltown but told Jay Leno that the cop laughed at her pink UK driver’s licence and her blonde hair in the picture.
She said: “I haven’t had that much luck driving in LA recently. I managed to get pulled over for speeding the other day.
“I was only eight miles over the limit but this cop, I swear to God, he was straight out of CHiPS.
“It was like he’d watched that show and been practising all the moves at home in front of a mirror. The window went down and he said, ‘licence’.”
The actress showed the licence on U.S. TV explaining that she used to be a blonde at 17.
She said: “British driving licences are actually pale pink in colour and I had really blonde hair in the picture as it was when I was 17.
“It actually looks like a Barbie card. The guy takes it and says, ‘What is this?’
“I said, ‘I know it looks like a Barbie but it is actually a U.K. driving licence.’
“He was like, ‘Ha, funny.’ Then he literally threw it back in the car and said, ‘Slow down.’
“I got off because he was so intrigued by the card.”
Johnny Depp’s reaction to being named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” was that it must have been a joke.
Depp, 46, was named for the second time after first making the grade in 2003. Hugh Jackman took the title in 2008 but said he also was at a loss as to why he was chosen.
Depp even beat out mega heart-throb Robert Pattinson of the Twilight series. He said: “That should be someone else, that confuses me beyond recognition. I don’t know how to react. I really thought it was a joke.”
Depp is star of the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies and three times has been nominated for an Oscar. He recently said he was still surprised by his cinematic awards.
You would think this was another way to help the Haiti disaster victims, but such petty objectives are far too insignificant for Shakira, she has bigger things on her agenda. It seems Shakira goes shopping in order to save the economy, as she herself states: “I do like to enjoy things any normal girl my age enjoys: I jog in the park, watch really bad movies. I used to feel guilty – I am a Catholic girl after all – but today, the way I see it, shopping keeps the world rolling. A world where people don’t consume? The economy gets worse.” Oh how Shakira hits the nail on the coffin with that one… unfortunately for her, from the wrong side of the picture. But hey, as long as she’s saving the economy, no sacrifice is smaller. As good old George Carlin said: “Go out and buy a new car and some jewelry, otherwise… the terrorists win!”
Drew Barrymore left a couple of key people out of her Golden Globe acceptance speech.
The actress, whose classic Hollywood gown won her fashion editor praise, was given the Best Supporting Actress award for her work in the HBO mini-series Grey Gardens. But she forgot to thank her off-on boyfriend Justin Long.
“I screwed up so hard in my speech,” Barrymore said backstage. She did not forget to kiss him before leaping up to get her award, however.
And it was noted she also forgot to mention her Grey Gardens co-star Jessica Lange.
But in a re-enactment of her moment, Barrymore told Lange (who was not present): “I wish that I could split this award in half!”
She also said: “And I have a great date. Thank you, Justin. He’s been making me laugh all night.”
Eastwick beauty Rebecca Romijn said her recent ‘Got Milk’ ad was ‘challenging’ to shoot with her one-year-old twins.
Romijn, 37, stars in the new campaign ad with her twins Dolly and Charlie and said that it wasn’t plain-sailing.
She said: “It was challenging. The last time I did this campaign in 1998, we shot it in Times Square, middle of a tropical storm, during rush hour, in July, without permits… I thought that was chaotic.
“Well, guess what? Shooting with nine-month-old twins when one of them is not havin’ it all day long…”
Talking about daughter Dolly, she said: “I think this is one of maybe three frames where she wasn’t screaming her head off and that was way more chaotic than the one that I did in 1998.
“I think Jerry [O'Connell, hubby] was probably doing cartwheels behind the photographer trying to get them to calm down.”
