Emily Blunt escapes speeding ticket in LA because she looks like Barbie on licence

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Emily Blunt says she escaped a speeding ticket in Los Angeles because she looks like Barbie on her driver’s licence.

The Devil Wears Prada actress was recently pulled over for driving over the speed limit in Tinseltown but told Jay Leno that the cop laughed at her pink UK driver’s licence and her blonde hair in the picture.

She said: “I haven’t had that much luck driving in LA recently. I managed to get pulled over for speeding the other day.

“I was only eight miles over the limit but this cop, I swear to God, he was straight out of CHiPS.

“It was like he’d watched that show and been practising all the moves at home in front of a mirror. The window went down and he said, ‘licence’.”

The actress showed the licence on U.S. TV explaining that she used to be a blonde at 17.

She said: “British driving licences are actually pale pink in colour and I had really blonde hair in the picture as it was when I was 17.

“It actually looks like a Barbie card. The guy takes it and says, ‘What is this?’

“I said, ‘I know it looks like a Barbie but it is actually a U.K. driving licence.’

“He was like, ‘Ha, funny.’ Then he literally threw it back in the car and said, ‘Slow down.’

“I got off because he was so intrigued by the card.”

Johnny Depp thought ‘Sexiest Man’ title was joke

Johnny Depp’s reaction to being named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” was that it must have been a joke.

Depp, 46, was named for the second time after first making the grade in 2003. Hugh Jackman took the title in 2008 but said he also was at a loss as to why he was chosen.

Depp even beat out mega heart-throb Robert Pattinson of the Twilight series. He said: “That should be someone else, that confuses me beyond recognition. I don’t know how to react. I really thought it was a joke.”

Depp is star of the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies and three times has been nominated for an Oscar. He recently said he was still surprised by his cinematic awards.
