Actress Jennifer Garner will star opposite Joel Edgerton in new fable fantasy The Odd Life of Timothy Green. The new movie by director Peter Hedges follows the story of a childless couple who are unable to have a baby. They then bury a box of their baby wishes in their garden and one day wake up and find a child has been born but all is not exactly as it appears. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Edgerton, 36, was up against actors such as Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix for the role. The movie is being produced by Ahmet Zappa, who also wrote the script, and Scott Sanders.
The famous country singer’s 21st birthday is coming up, but it looks like Taylor Swift isn’t going to be taking on any club for her celebration. About her upcoming birthday party, Taylor Swift had this to say: “I don’t think I was born to be in the club… Just to throw that out there.” So, no free drinks for any obnoxious thrill-seekers. Taylor Swift is probably just going to have a private and intimate party in that very imaginatively designed house of hers. Maybe she’s planning on a performance for her birthday too and doesn’t want to draw too large of a crowd.
The singer was recently asked whether Girls Aloud will ever have anymore musical activity and to this Nadine Coyle replied the following: “I would say so, I would say there’s no reason, there’s no excuse. You know, if everybody’s happy enough to get back and do it, I would say so.” There must have been a shift of dimension or something recently… someone probably kidnapped the Girls Aloud and replaced them all with genetically engineered clones. Just a week or so ago Nadine Coyle was hinting at how they will all probably go their separate ways due to all of those nasty differences between them.

Being fired from Beverly Hills 90210 was a blessing in disguise Hilary Swank says. The actress was cast as single mother Carly Reynolds in the hit show, but her character was written out after just 16 episodes in 1998. But Swank says after losing her jobs she went on to land the lead role in Boys Don’t Cry, a part that would win the actress a Best Actress Oscar. “It is weird. There’s a lot of luck involved in a career, so I’m thankful I got fired off of 90210 because three months later I got Boys Don’t Cry,” the 36-year-old told Total Film. “I wouldn’t have gotten that movie had I stayed on the show, so it was always about trusting fate and learning about the business along the way.”
Newly engaged tennis champ Maria Sharapova has revealed that she will be designing her own wedding shoes. The 23-year-old sportswoman recently got engaged to LA Lakers shooting guard Sasha Vujacic. Speaking at the 14th annual ACE awards presented by the Accessories Council at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York yesterday, she told People Magazine: “I will for sure be wearing Cole Haan, because everybody that’s been talking to me about weddings and comfortable shoes said, ‘You have to be sure that you’re wearing comfortable shoes’. “I’m for sure going to design them.” Sharapova added that she hasn’t yet decided on the design of her wedding dress. She said: “I think it depends on the design of the dress and how you feel about it. Sometimes you want to go a little bit shorter, but I love when the dress is also long and fluid and you feel really elegant and flowy.”
Demi Lovato recently checked herself into a rehab facility for what her rep called “emotional and physical issues” and now, sources close to the Disney actress/singer’s family have confirmed that she’s being treated for cutting, as well as an eating disorder. Insiders say “She fought through eating disorders and has struggled with cutting. [She] is taking control by getting help. She definitely had body-image issues. She was always conscious of her weight. Like many other teenage girls, she struggled a lot to fit in and find acceptance. She’s very sensitive, very intuitive and that is part of what makes her a wonderful performer – very talented. It is double-edged sword. I think she felt that the hard time she had [in school], problems with kids who were incredibly vicious made her stronger. But none of us feel strong every day.” Poor thing. I’m glad she decided to seek help.
It seems that Justin Bieber has hit one of those times when he is questioning his awesomeness. This is what the teenage singing sensation said about his cool status: “I’m not even that cool, like seriously… what is so cool like that you freak out. These girls crying, it’s like I can’t believe that, I’m so honored that you’re crying but, I don’t know, it’s crazy to me!” Justin Bieber shouldn’t really let this get to him so much. So Demi Lovato’s going to rehab right after supposedly dating him. If she just can’t take the sheer amount of awesomeness that is the Biebster, her loss.
Harry Potter actress Emma Watson said she was shocked when she was told she was a millionairess. Watson, 20, said her father had a conversation with her two or three years ago when he told her about how much she had earned by starring in the wizarding movie series. Up to that point she had been living on an allowance of just £50 a week. Speaking to Britain’s Vogue magazine, she said: “By the third or fourth film, the money was starting to get… serious. I had no idea. I felt sick, very emotional.” The actress plays the role of Hermione Granger and she said she can finally be herself now that filming has ended. She said: “For the nine years I was on Harry Potter I was contractually obliged not to cut my hair, not to tan. All the normal things girls do, I couldn’t. So when I got the chance to change my appearance, this is what I did.”

The singer seems to be using some very interesting promoting techniques for her new album. Taylor Swift apparently got the very spontaneous idea of blocking Hollywood Blvd on Friday in order to play a surprise concert at the top of a double-decker. This is what she tweeted earlier that day: “If you’re at Hollywood and Highland around 4 today, my band and I will see you there.” Considering the level of popularity Taylor Swift enjoys, wouldn’t that cause of a bit of mass hysteria? Or does that happen only when the fan base is made-up largely of teenage girls… like, say for instance that of Justin Bieber’s?
Former Ally McBeal star Portia de Rossi fought back tears as she opened up about her battle against anorexia. The 37-year-old actress revealed on The Oprah Winfrey Show how she would eat just 300 calories a day at the height of her eating disorder, which saw her weight plummet to 82lbs. Asked by Winfrey if she felt proud when she weighed so little, she confessed: “It wasn’t that I was proud of it, but it was certainly a recognition [of] my self-control. “I definitely had some pretty amazing willpower to get down to 82lbs and that’s what I was holding onto. I didn’t think about anything else.” The Arrested Development star also told Winfrey that during her starvation period she would “prefer to die than fail another diet”. Asked how much she would eat, she said: “Three hundred calories.” De Rossi, who wed chat-show host Ellen DeGeneres in 2008 and has since taken her name, also opened up about how spent years hiding the fact that she is gay. “Hiding your sexuality is the most horrible way to live,” she said. “It really does a huge disservice to society because if everybody who is gay came out in every profession teachers, doctors if everybody came out and said, ‘I’m gay, who cares?’, it would make a big impact on what’s happening with all this teenage suicide.” De Rossi has written her autobiography, Unbearable Lightness: A Story Of Loss And Gain, which is due out on 1 November.
