Mila Kunis claims she ended up looking like Gollum from the Lord Of The Rings, after dropping 20lbs for her latest movie role. The 27-year-old actress trained for five hours a day, seven days a week to prepare for her role as a ballerina in the new thriller Black Swan. And as a result, Kunis, who was already very slim before she started training, says she resembled the skeletal Lord Of The Rings character after shedding 20lbs through exercise alone. “It was insane,” the Ukraine-born actress tells Nylon magazine. “[At first] I could do nothing. By the end of training, I could get en pointe. “It was the most intense training I’ve ever had in my life, and probably will have for anything. “I lost 20lbs, so I went down to 95lbs (6st 7lbs). I weigh 117lbs (8st 3lbs) usually, like today. I looked like Gollum.” But the Date Night star admits that despite the extreme weight loss she doesn’t look emaciated on-screen. “[That's] the sad part about this industry,” she says. “You realise why people are so skinny, because on film and in all the photo-shoots I did for press, it looks amazing.”
DWTS finalist Bristol Palin has hit out at Kathy Griffin for calling her fat. Griffin made the dig at 20-year-old Palin during VH1′s Divas salute and, in reference to her time on Dancing With The Stars, she said: “She’s the only contestant in the history of the show to actually gain weight.” The troops booed Griffin but she continued: “No, come on, come on. She gained like 30 pounds a week, I swear to God, it was fantastic. She’s like the white Precious.” Speaking to Fox News about Griffin’s comments, Palin said: “The audience’s reaction to this ‘comedian’ spoke volumes, and the decent people I know would probably have booed her, too. “I hope people didn’t have to pay money to hear her negativity and criticisms.”
Former Bond star Rosamund Pike has criticised Hollywood’s double standards with the way men and women can act. Pike, 31, said she thinks it’s wrong that men are allowed to act however they like whereas women are supposed to behave better. According to UK newspaper Daily Express, she said: “Charlie Sheen gets to have his moment in a hotel room with hookers and becomes cool, getting kudos from it. “If that was a girl she’d be considered a dirty little slapper and pounded out of town.” She added: “Girls have to be so nice. A girl can’t even say something vaguely confrontational in an interview, it’s all about sweetness. It makes everything so insipid.”
Former Spice Girls member Geri Halliwell is reportedly set to re-launch her music career as a solo singer. This time, she’s attempting to do it on her own label. A source said “Geri is back in the studio. She wants to release a solo album next summer. Her master plan is to start off with a cover reworked as a huge dance track. She is recording a handful of them now. She is out of a record deal so she has decided to do it and fund it herself. She considered taking it to a label but thought the way her fellow Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm played her solo career was a better idea – pulling it together herself. Geri also has a girl band she is working with, who she thinks could cut it. She thought it would be wise to sign them on her own and get the cash for herself. She has been texting all of her friends – including Victoria and David Beckham – asking for their favorite tracks for her to record.”
It seems that the singer had a big problem with the fact that she pretty much blended into the music industry when she first started out. This is what Rihanna had to relate about the beginnings of her career: “I kind of blended in. It was safe, the blonde, curly hair. It was a formula. I didn’t want to be like all the other artists. I wanted to stand out. And the only way I could do that was by taking charge of my image and sound. And it worked. ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ was a big turning point for me.” Really? Rihanna had actually released material that was even more mainstream than “Good Girl Gone Bad”. Now that’s a bit difficult to believe. Maybe she has a totally different opinion about the concept of blending in.
Charlie Sheen’s estranged wife Brooke Mueller has reportedly checked herself into a sober living house in Los Angeles. The 33 year-old who has recently been filming a reality series with Paris Hilton was taken to the facility by Hilton’s mum Kathy, it is claimed. According to reports, Mueller made the decision herself, telling people close to her she “felt weak” and needed professional counselling. Mueller’s 17-month-old twin boys with Sheen, Bob and Max, are staying with her parents. Mueller’s lawyer, Yale Galanter, confirmed she checked into the sober living house but insisted she did not have a relapse and is free come and go as she pleases. Galanter said Mueller checked in to “maintain her health”.
And no, it’s not because he hasn’t paid his bill. It’s because he apparently got into an argument with his mother that resulted in him losing his phone privileges. This is what Justin Bieber related on the matter: “Mom travels with me. We argue yes, I think every parent and son argue, but I love my mom. I think it’s good she travels me, but sometimes I need a break because I’m with her 24/7 but I love her, I like being with her. The other day she canceled my phone plan. We got into an argument about something stupid, and she was like, ‘Give me the phone’ and I was like, ‘No’, so she just went and canceled it.” Well, he is still only a teenager, which is unfortunate for him, but Justin Bieber has only a little more time to wait until he comes off-age and then… well, then, things might get a bit frustrating for his mom.
Actor-student James Franco admits he has never met his Oscar co-host Anne Hathaway before but they have good ‘text message chemistry’. The Hollywood star appeared on US talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! yesterday and talked about how he landed the Oscars hosting gig. James said he wanted to do a bit on the Oscars with the Twilight stars, possibly a duet with Robert Pattinson, but was asked to co-host the Academy Awards instead. When his friend Bruce Cohen, one of the producers of Milk who is producing the Oscars asked him to do it, his immediate reaction was no but then he realised it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The 32-year-old said: “I never thought I would do it and up until a month ago I didn’t think I would do it.” James admitted he has never actually met his co-host Anne Hathaway but they have good ‘text chemistry’. He said: “I have never met her… We are text message buddies, we have good text chemistry.” Franco joked that he is pushing for the pair to share a dressing room because ‘that’s in the contract’. But James is glad to be hosting the Academy Awards as it takes the pressure off him getting an Oscar nomination for his role 127 Hours because it was making him ‘go insane’. Franco, a student in fiction writing in the master of fine arts programme at US Columbia University and a film student at New York University, also said his aim was to get a doctorate and become Dr. Franco to pick up girls. He added: “That’s what I’m going for, well you need it for the signature… that’s why I’m doing it – to pick up girls.”
The singer is apparently finding that acting is not really a very easy career choice. It seems that while filming for his upcoming movie, “Now”, Justin Timberlake has suffered a little injury on set while shooting a stunt. It was only little indeed as the brave young actor was able to resume filming for the rest of the day. However, this may serve as a heads-up for Justin Timberlake, especially since he insists to do his own stunts. He might one day regret not sticking to the safety and comfort of a stage in front of thousands of near-feral, zealous fans.
Twilight star Ashley Greene is to become the new host of CW special Fashion Forward: Making It. The 23-year-old, who is best known for playing the role of Alice Cullen in the Twilight movie series, will host the new style show for the US TV network, which will be a one-hour, behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in the fashion business. Greene, who is dating singer Joe Jonas, said to PEOPLE: “The word fashionista has popped up a time or two which I’m very grateful for and humbled by. “The opportunity came up and I jumped at it.” Greene revealed her favourite part of the new show. She said: “It was really cool to be talking about a lot of young designers and fresh faces and forces in the fashion industry that are essentially making their mark in fashion like I’m making mine.”
Actress Kate Bosworth said it was both ‘interesting’ and ‘bizarre’ to be in South Korea when hostilities broke out. The Warrior’s Way star appeared on US late night programme, Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday and said it was ‘quite a time’ when she recently visited South Korea. Asked if it was her who started the trouble in the country, she said: “I am known to be a bit mischievous in my life but not that mischievous.” Bosworth added: “It was quite bizarre to be honest because you know I flew there recently for press, Warrior’s Way was directed by a Korean filmmaker and has a Korean star. “Flew in, got in, ate at night, went to sleep, woke up, ordered room service, flipped on BBC and literally like war had broken out in South Korea, it’s so bizarre.” The 27-year-old added: “I have never experienced anything like that, it was interesting.” Bosworth enjoyed doing some martial arts in the movie about a warrior-assassin who is forced into hiding in the American Badlands after turning down a mission. She added: “I did enjoy it, it was kind of interesting the way that they wanted the martial arts to be in this film. It was like a ballet like it’s not just kind of slashing each other with sharp objects, it’s very poetic. Although Bosworth felt ‘unbelievably uncoordinated’ and wished she had had more of a dance background for the scenes.
Tiger Wood’s mistress number one Rachel Uchitel broke down as she revealed she fears dying like her father. The golfer’s paramour opened up as she appeared on the season premiere of Celebrity Rehab, a reality show where celebrities face up to their problems and seek the help of host and addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky. Uchitel, 35, teared up as she told Dr. Pinsky that she has been abusing prescription sleeping drugs and not leaving the house. She added that she feared dying as a recluse like her father did when he died from a cocaine overdose when she was 15. Uchitel said: “I’m famous for being infamous. For the last ten years I’ve run with some of the wealthiest people in the world as well as hung out with the biggest celebrities in the country. “Somewhere along the line I absolutely lost that sense of self. I don’t usually let on but I have led a very lonely existence. “My father died of a cocaine overdose when I was 15. “He had become a recluse for the last three years of his life and he didn’t care that he had a family. I felt so horrible that he was alone when he died. “I find that I am becoming a recluse and I’m taking more stuff to make me go to sleep. And that’s really dangerous for me because that is what killed my father.”
The singer is apparently planning to re-record her album “Elope” due to the fact that she split from her husband and feels like a new person for it. This is what Christina Millian had to say on the matter: “It was called ‘Elope,’ but I’m going to have to change it. That was my life in 2009. I have a new attitude now. I’m a whole new girl — a new woman. I’ll probably use a little bit of my material from before, because I still do love some of the songs. Some got leaked onto the Internet. But a good majority will be different.” Well, that’s one way to go about masking a lack of inspiration, but Christina Millian can only use it so many times.
Hollywood actress Kate Bosworth said she’s a ‘low-maintenance’ person with her beauty regime. Bosworth, 27, said her mum tries to get her to do more with her hair as often she would rather do something else. She said to Lucky magazine: “I’m the most low-maintenance person. I’m in a constant battle with my mom because she’s always saying: ‘Please, can’t you blow-dry your hair? It looks so much nicer when you blow-dry it.’ “I always wanted thicker, fuller hair, but honestly, I’d just rather be doing something else than blow-drying my hair.” The actress added that she also recently picked up a bargain in a thrift store and got a Michael Kors pencil skirt. She said: “And it was only $15! I got it in a thrift store in Detroit. I felt like I had found a little gold nugget – they had no idea what they were sitting on.”
