JLo Admits to Judges’ Fights

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011
Jennifer Lopez has admitted that she and fellow American Idol judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler had their first fight while filming auditions for the show’s upcoming season. Apparently, the three had fought over a girl who JLo really wanted to pass into the second round. However, the two guys weren’t having it. The pop singer said “Me and Randy and Steve got into our first fight. I got really, really upset. She was amazing. I was surprised because I was ready to vote. I thought I was being Punk’d. How can we let this girl go?’ I was upset. When I believe in something … I knew this girl deserves the chance. The kids, we’re being really tough on them. Sometimes the days get kinda long.”

JLo Coming Back to AI

Monday, August 15th, 2011
Here’s the news a lot of you were waiting for – Jennifer Lopez is returning for the eleventh season of American Idol. Producer Nigel Lythgoe was on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show yesterday, saying “I believe we’re still waiting for the official announcements but I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of American Idol, is back for the next season.” Fox has yet to announce an official statement confirming the singer/actress’ return to the show. But if Nigel and Ryan have gone public with it, the Fox announcement will just be a formality of JLo’s return to the judges’ panel.

Ryan Seacrest not angry at photos of Julianne Hough with co-star

Ryan Seacrest is not angry at photos of his girlfriend Julianne Hough with her co-star. Pictures have emerged of Hough with her Rock of Ages co-star Diego Boneta, and it was claimed she had been “cozying up” to him while they were filming in Miami. According to Star, Seacrest was unhappy about the photos and “blew a gasket” when he saw them in the pool in Florida. However, a source close to the American Idol host has now said the rumours are untrue and the couple are fine.

Pia Toscano Talks Album

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Pia Toscano may have been voted off American Idol pretty early but she’s made an impact with the right people in the music industry even if she didn’t strike enough of a chord with America. And just because she didn’t win doesn’t mean she can’t be successful. The singer, who is currently working on her album with producer Rodney Jerkins under Interscope Records, said “It’s definitely going to be big ballads, but there’s also going to be those fun up-tempo songs, those dancing songs. I feel like on the show people really only saw me in one way, and I want to show the world that I can do other things.”

Scotty McCreery Performs with Tim McGraw

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

Scotty McCreery was up next for a duet. The finalist got to perform “Live like You were Dying” with country singer Tim McGraw. This was another high point of the night. Scotty’s rarely sounded better and Tim is always going to be a favorite of mine. At points during the performance, it was getting hard to say who the better singer actually was. This just goes to prove that Scotty is ready to be a player in the music industry, American Idol or not. I was sort of left wishing that this song could have been his single but we all know that “I Love You This Big” is still going to be a thing.

Lauren Alaina is not doing too well

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

It seems that the American Idol contestant has kind of lost her way a bit in nearing the end of the contest. Her performances of last night weren’t too convincing for Lauren Alaina to be sure that she will get into the finals. Her rendition of Faith Hill’s “Wild One” unfortunately went a bit awry because of some wardrobe problems. Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” propelled her high enough, especially in Jennifer Lopez’s eyes, but her rendition of The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young” apparently failed to convince the judges that she’ll be getting into the finals. Unless the audiences vote totally unexpectedly, it might turn out to be the end of the road for Lauren Alaina.

Lauren Alaina amazes in the first round and tones it down

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Last night the American Idol contestant managed to pull off a really interesting trick: after giving an amazing rendition of Martina McBride’s “Anyway” and wowing everyone, she toned it down on round two by performing Elvis Presley’s “Trouble”. The first song was right up Lauren Alaina’s alley and that really helped her a lot, but the second one wasn’t that much her thing and it slowed her down a bit. It is pretty clear that Lauren Alaina’s vocation is country singing although she did manage to prove that she can handle herself well-enough when it comes to trying out something new. Maybe the audiences will see that too and she’ll make it in the top three.
For the first round, James Durbin sang “Don’t Stop Believin’”; Haley Reinhart took on “Earth Song”; Scotty McCreery performed “Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning”; and Lauren Alaina sang “Anyway”. For the second round, Haley took on “I Who Have Nothing”; Scotty sang “Young Blood”; Lauren performed “Trouble”; and James sang “Love Potion No. 9”

American Idol has its final act

Friday, May 6th, 2011

And it’s apparently going to be one for the books. Not only is Lady GaGa set to perform on the show’s final episode for this season, but it looks like the good people of American Idol have actually got word to Stevie Nicks to perform on their finale too. So it’s probably going to be one epic show… the only question that remains is which of the remaining contestants will be the only one left to enjoy it? The numbers have grown thin already as it is with only four contestants remaining. At least the viewers are going to get to enjoy a show they will never forget… until next season.

Jennifer Lopez likes to buff up before a music video

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

The American Idol judge has recently admitted that she doesn’t like to leave any detail unchecked when it comes to appearing in front of a camera for a music video and she works out up to six times a week before shooting a new video. This is what Jennifer Lopez had to say on the matter: “You can hide a lot with good clothes, but when you’re doing a video, you really can’t because the clothes get smaller! It’s like all the sudden my stomach’s out. Oh no! It’s like, that’s what they want me to wear? I’d better start doing Tracy Anderson workouts six times a week then!” And here one would’ve thought that Jennifer Lopez actually got to chose her own clothes for a music video… or say it was more about the music itself than the looks of it all.

American Idol Performance Night Thoughts

Friday, April 15th, 2011

This week’s edition of the American Idol performances saw the remaining 8 singers take on music from the movies. There have been a lot of great songs featured in film soundtracks but I have to say that a lot of the contestants missed their marks. Of all the songs that they could have picked, I never thought I’d see Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” be sung by Lauren Alaina. Really? I get that they’re young and all but really. She wasn’t the only one with a bad song though. Honestly, I thought all of them had bad songs. If it wasn’t boring, they screw up the vocals. I think this was the worst performance night to date.

EW Reviews Jennifer Hudson’s New Album

Friday, March 25th, 2011

Jennifer Hudson recently celebrated the release of her new album “I Remember Me”. The Oscar-winning actress and Grammy-winning R&B singer recently got a review on her album from EW. The magazine said “Ms. Iron Pipes finally sounds like she’s having some fun. Where 2008’s Jennifer Hudson was bogged down with serious, self-assuring ballads, here she aims for a lighter vibe, flexing her newfound confidence on ‘I Got This’. All you have to do is hear her appealingly brassy take on the oft-Idol-abused warhorse ‘Feeling Good’ to know Hudson has somehow found a route to happiness.” All good things. Congratulations Jennifer!

She also performed last night on American Idol:

Ryan Seacrest Gives Generous Donation to Chris Medina

Monday, March 7th, 2011

If you’ve been watching this season of American Idol, then surely you know about Chris Medina and his heartbreaking story. Unfortunately, Chris didn’t make it into the top 24, much less the top 13. However, all is not lost for the singer. He already has a single out called “What are Words” and has made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Ryan Seacrest also invited Chris on his radio show and gave him a $35,000 donation to the foundation that is helping Chris’ fiancé recover from her accident. Chris has such a beautiful soul and I wish nothing but good things for him and his fiancé.

American Idol Contestant has Industry Past

Friday, February 4th, 2011

John Wayne may have been portrayed as the innocent, never-left-the-ranch amateur singer on American Idol but it seems that he’s not who he appears to be. It turns out that the 23-year old John Wayne Schulz has a pretty impressive past in the music world that the producers at the reality TV talent show conveniently neglected to mention on the show. John Wayne not only released an album by the time that he was 14 years old but one of his songs was also considered for 7 Grammy nods. The CEO of his old record label tells Billboard.com that John only recorded that one album, saying “He’s of Mormon faith, and he had to go on his church mission. He was gone for two years, and we just weren’t able to reconnect once he returned.” It’s apparently easier to connect with American Idol.

Crystal Bowersox has released her first music video – Farmer’s Daughter

Monday, December 20th, 2010

Remember Crystal Bowersox? Remember how she almost won last year’s American Idol? Well, that didn’t really stop her from getting a career and releasing her very first album, “Farmer’s Daughter”, just a few days ago that comes with a music video too. The song itself is a pretty nifty little country rock piece that deals with an unfortunate situation of domestic abuse. Even though it’s not really as dramatic as it probably should be, Crystal Bowersox does manage to get her point across. The video itself consists of Crystal Bowersox playing the guitar and an underlining story of a little girl facing up to a pretty harsh reality. All in all, it’s not bad for a start, especially considering that there’s a bit more to it than just nonsense pop music and lyrics. It seems that Crystal Bowersox is not really a product of American Idol… or at least, not yet.

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Do Good

Friday, December 10th, 2010

Jennifer Lopez and her hubby Marc Anthony recently attended the Teleton 2010 TV Broadcast at Televisa San Angel in Mexico City, Mexico last week. The American Idol judge and her singer hubby hit the stage to perform and later made a donation to the telethon’s cause. The telethon raised funds to help improve the quality of life for children with disabilities. Kudos to the couple for supporting such a great cause. I guess it’s a cause that’s close to their hearts since they are parents as well. I’m sure they can sympathize and empathize with what parents of children with disabilities are dealing with.

Chris Daughtry Welcomes Twins

Friday, November 19th, 2010

Chris Daughtry and his wife Deanna are the proud parents of two beautiful fraternal twins. The rock singer announced the news via his website, saying that they have a new daughter named Adalynn Rose and a new son named Noah James. The American Idol alum added “Our family is overwhelmed with joy by these two precious gifts from God. The babies are both healthy and resting. Thanks to everyone for their love and prayers.” I’m so happy for them. I hope the babies are happy and healthy. Congratulations to the happy parents! I can’t wait to get a glimpse of the new babies.

It is thought Seacrest himself will appear on-air but it will not be called Seacrest TV as it will have its own brand.

Kelly Clarkson Not Working with Ryan Tedder

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

After Ryan Tedder revealed that he was going to step back into the studio with the original American Idol Kelly Clarkson, the singer herself replied “no” when asked if she was going to be working with the One Republic front man on her next album. It sounds like they’re still having that feud. Kelly did reveal that she’s currently in the middle of recording her 5th album saying “I’ve been working in the studio a lot for this next album & can’t wait for y’all to hear it! New favorite is You’re The Only One For Me.” Here’s to hoping that she delivers great music.

Sanjaya wants on Dancing with the Stars

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

All of the hardcore American Idol fans must remember Sanjaya… he was one of the good ones, a real classic among classics. Well, he’s back and he’s aiming high yet again as now he wants to be on Dancing with the Stars. This is what Sanjaya said on the matter: “The only other reality show I’d consider would be Dancing with the Stars. I would totally do it because I love the show and I’ve always loved to dance, but I’ve never really had training — so I think it would be fun to be put in that situation! I wouldn’t care which partner I had, I just would want someone who was a really great choreographer because I’ve never really been trained…but I have a grasp of dance.” Well Sanjaya has probably never really been trained in the art of song as well, but nonetheless he managed to dazzle everybody… he will probably put Dancing with the Stars on the entertainment map.

Paula Abdul on X Factor

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

There have been loud murmurs that Paula Abdul has signed a $4.5 million contract to appear on the US version of Simon Cowell’s X Factor. Simon allegedly flew his former American Idol judge’s panel seatmate out to the UK to meet with the X Factor production team. A source said “Simon flew Paula to London and wined and dined her relentlessly over the course of several days, even introducing her to everyone who works on X Factor. But what really clinched the deal was Simon’s pledge that she wouldn’t have to deal with all the nonsense and infighting that she hated on Idol.”
