Pirates of the Caribbean star Penelope Cruz says you don’t have to be slim to be attractive.

The 36-year-old told British You magazine: “I would close down all those teenage magazines that encourage young girls to diet.

“Who says that to be pretty you have to be thin?”

She added: “Some people look better thin and some don’t, there is almost a standard being created where only thin is acceptable.

“The influence of those magazines on girls as young as 13 is horrific.”

Penelope herself admits that she is embracing her looks as she ages.

The Nine star said: “If I look around at the actresses I admire, they are all women who have not fought growing older, but embraced it – women like Sophia Loren or Audrey Hepburn… It’s a good thing to be old, because that means you haven’t died yet, right?”

She added: “The people who love me, love me for who I am.

“They love me for a mixture of things that makes anyone love another person, and those things will still be there when I am 40, 60 or 80.”

Jennifer Aniston is on a diet of baby food designed by celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, it has been reported.

The Baby Food Cleanse diet plan, devised by Anderson, involves eating 14 portions of puréed food a day, along with one normal meal.

Aniston reportedly feels this new menu has given her a “body boost” while she is in Hawaii shooting her new movie Just Go With It, the Daily Mail reports.

“I developed a cleanse where you can still eat and it’s a lot of purée foods. I was very careful about the foods I chose to put in it,” Anderson told Hollyscoop.

“I wanted something where you can eliminate toxicity and break bad habits but still have your digestive system going.”

Anderson has counted Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow among her clients.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow said she will be “forever grateful” to personal trainer Tracy Anderson for “kicking my sagging a** into shape”.

Paltrow, 37, has been working with Anderson for some time and the trainer has leant her tips to the latest edition of the actress’ GOOP newsletter.

Paltrow said: “Many of you may already know of my passion for the Tracy Anderson Method and my investment in it. She has kicked my formerly sagging a** into shape and I will be forever grateful.

“This week, Tracy shares with us a little arm series that I did every day preparing for Iron Man and that I take on the road.”

Supermodel Bar Refaeli doesn’t diet, she has revealed.

The ex-girlfriend of Leonardo DiCaprio said she maintained her figure by looking after herself.

She said: “I don’t diet and I don’t have an eating plan, but I like to eat healthily.

“I don’t deny myself anything and there’s nothing I wouldn’t eat. I like desserts – I like food full-stop but I exercise and I’m young, so everything keeps in check.”

She added to Hello magazine: “I guess every girl has days where she feels good and days where she feels she could lose a couple of pounds and it’s the same for me.

“I’m generally in pretty good shape, but if I have a major shoot or fashion show coming up and I want to look my best, then I’ll spend a little extra time working out or I will stick to eating salads and chicken for a few days.

“I would never go on some crazy fad diet or eat anything weird to get thinner – it’s just not good for your body.”

Antwone Fisher star Joy Bryant is reportedly a fan of Kundalini yoga and says it is a “great” workout for the mind and body.

Bryant, 31, is a strict vegetarian and she reportedly said that she does the yoga for the meditation and the physical benefits.

The actress was awarded a full academic scholarship to the prestigious Yale University and has recently joined the cast of the NBC show Parenthood.

Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed has invited other Hollywood stars to explore Kundalini and other forms of yoga. He referred to it as a “living fossil”, which is both a mental and physical discipline.

Hollywood actress Jessica Biel has admitted she only eats half a meal and then sends the rest back.

The 27-year-old, who is dating singer Justin Timberlake, made the revelation as she was asked about how she keeps fit.

She said: “You have to find a balance, especially with what you eat. I don’t live by the idea that you can’t allow yourself a treat.”

“I say: ‘Eat things you like, but eat them in smaller portions.’ I always cut things in half and send half back. I’m not perfect, I don’t always do those things, but that’s the goal! If there’s something I want to try, then I try it. But I have a bite, not the whole thing. That’s what you have to do.”

Curvy stars such as actress Kate Winslet and chef Nigella Lawson are more of an inspiration to dieters than skinny stars, a new poll has claimed.

Kellogg’s Special K conducted the poll to see who people trying to weight look up to the most.

The poll claimed more people want to see an hourglass figure like 33-year-old Kate Winslet’s than a skinny star like model Kate Moss’s.

Sixty-five per cent of the 2,000 women surveyed said they would prefer an hourglass shape.

The poll also found out that British women also look up to older women such as Dame Helen Mirren and Dame Judi Dench.

The producers of hit TV show Gossip Girl are said to be furious at star Ed Westwick for gaining weight.

The actor, who plays heartthrob Chuck Bass, has reportedly piled on so many pounds in recent months that the wardrobe department has even had to buy new clothes to fit his expanding waistline, it has been claimed.

A source said: "Ed has been gaining a lot of weight – not just around the waist, but through the whole body. It even shows in his face."

An insider told a US magazine: "First, the costume department had to buy him new, bigger pants [trousers]. Then, his shirts and jackets got way too snug. The costumers even requested that the producers talk to Ed – they don’t want Chuck to be fat."

A representative for the English-born actor, 21, was unavailable for comment.

Scarlett Johansson however said she is a petite 5′3” and losing 14 pounds drastically would mean having to part ways with both arms–even a foot. She said it is frustrating to read about the utter irresponsibility of the tabloid media who dictate how people should look and how to get there. Scarlett Johansson said she has always publicly advocated for a healthy body image and it is ludicrous to accuse her of going on a crash diet or even a miracle workout to lose that amount of weight. She said this is reckless and dangerous reporting at this time when people should promote healthy eating.

Why are women typecast in every corner of the world, in the West big butts are a complete taboo and are voluptuous bodies while (like the actress says) in India they want full-figured woman. That is really a loss for Indian television and a gain for western world.

She’s completely fine and beautiful the way she is and if she is happy with her appearance then that’s how people should except her.
