Friday, February 18th, 2011

Director Guillermo del Toro is reportedly set to start making a new 3D adaptation of Pinocchio. The filmmaker is working with The Jim Henson Company and Pathe on the new film adaptation of the classic fairytale by Carlo Collodi. According to Deadline, Del Toro has written the storyline for the new film with Matthew Robbins, who has also written the script. The film will be a lot more edgy than the animated adaptation that Disney made in 1940. Gris Grimly will co-direct with Mark Gustafson and Del Toro will produce with Lisa Henson, Jason Lust and Allison Abbate from The Jim Henson Company. Production is set to begin on the film later this year.

Demi Lovato Tops Disney Record Sales

Monday, January 17th, 2011

According to Disney, Demi Lovato has the highest grossing album sales worldwide with Hollywood Records, which is owned by Disney. A statement was released, saying “Highest Grossing Album Sales Worldwide Labeled With Hollywood Records At The Moment is Here We Go Again &Don’t Forget by Demi Lovato.” I think that’s great. It just may be the kind of pick me up that the singer/actress needs to get back on the right track. I find it highly interesting and curious that Demi beat Miley Cyrus though, considering that the latter has been out in the market for longer with the popular “Hannah Montana” brand.

What Demi Lovato is Seeking Treatment For

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

Demi Lovato recently checked herself into a rehab facility for what her rep called “emotional and physical issues” and now, sources close to the Disney actress/singer’s family have confirmed that she’s being treated for cutting, as well as an eating disorder. Insiders say “She fought through eating disorders and has struggled with cutting. [She] is taking control by getting help. She definitely had body-image issues. She was always conscious of her weight. Like many other teenage girls, she struggled a lot to fit in and find acceptance. She’s very sensitive, very intuitive and that is part of what makes her a wonderful performer – very talented. It is double-edged sword. I think she felt that the hard time she had [in school], problems with kids who were incredibly vicious made her stronger. But none of us feel strong every day.” Poor thing. I’m glad she decided to seek help.

Selena Gomez Does Good Music

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Selena Gomez & the Scene have released the first single off of their upcoming second album. The song, called ‘Round and Round’, was produced by Kevin Rudolf and I think that it’s super catchy. The Disney princess turned singer and the rest of her band is doing some pretty good work. I can’t wait to hear what else they’ve got. It’s unapologetically pop but I doubt we’re going to hear Selena say anything about that unlike Miley Cyrus who claims to not listen to pop while being considered one of the biggest stars of pop music today. It hurt so much to say that.

Barbie and Ken star in Toy Story 3

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

It’s love at first sight for Barbie and Ken in new scenes from forthcoming animation Toy Story 3.

The famous toy couple can be seen meeting for the first time in the latest movie from Disney-Pixar.

In a preview clip of the film, Barbie looks impressed when Ken says he has a “whole room for trying on clothes” in his toy house.

But, after flexing his muscles, and generally looking pleased with himself, Ken admits that he has “everything except someone to share it with”.

In the new movie, Jodi Benson, who was the voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, plays Barbie, while Batman star Michael Keaton takes on the role of Ken.

Toy Story 3 follows the adventures of Woody, Buzz and Hamm after they get dumped in a daycare centre when their owner Andy goes to college.

It is due for release in the UK on 23 July.

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey could be set to reprise their roles as a sequel to Disney flick Enchanted has been confirmed.

It is claimed that Disney is developing a sequel to the 2007 movie, with Jessie Nelson writing the script and Anne Fletcher directing the flick.

Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld will return to produce the movie but it is not yet known if its stars Amy Adams, James Marsden or Patrick Dempsey will return for another.

The first movie saw a princess called Giselle turfed out of her animated world by an evil queen and sent to live in the live-action streets of New York.

Selena Gomez is Worth Millions

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Sources are saying that Disney starlet Selena Gomez just banked herself $65,000 for her latest flick ‘Ramona’. It might not be headline news considering that there’s a lot of people who get paid more for a movie but that’s not all for the singer/actress. If the film does well at the box office, Selena is said to rake in another $250,000 to $1 million extra. While Miley Cyrus may have made just for showing up on set for her latest movie, Selena has one up on Miley in the form of a contract for more movie roles with FOX, the company behind ‘Ramona’. They currently have a deal for two more movies with Selena in which she would collect $1 million for the first and $2.5 million for the second. Wow! Selena has made it to the big times!

The Princess and the Frog star Anika Noni Rose had dream to voice Disney character

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

SPL126341_067

The Princess and the Frog star Anika Noni Rose said it has always been her dream to voice a Disney character.

The 37-year-old star voices the character of Tiana in Disney’s latest flick and she said she has always been a fan of the animation studio.

She said: “Before I ever decided I wanted to be a performer, I wanted to be a Disney voice.

“When I was little, I would watch The Wonderful World of Disney on television every Sunday night, with Tinkerbell flitting around.

“So, if Disney asked me to play just a talking slipper in this film, I would have been happy to have been click-clacking down the hallway.”

Captain EO is Back

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Michael Jackson’ 1986 3D film experience ‘Captain EO’ is making its return to Disneyland. The 17-minute film, which was a popular attraction at the theme park from 1986 to 1997, will be returning to the park for a limited engagement. The Francis Ford Coppola directed musical will be taking the place of the ‘Honey I Shrunk the Audience’ attraction in Tomorrowland during its limited run which will start in February 2010. I say that it’s a pretty smart move for Disney. They still have time to cash in on the King of Pop’s hype yet enough time has passed that it’s being respectful.

Miley Cyrus Gets Denied

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Miley Cyrus tried to talk her way into Club LIV at the Fontainbleau in Miami last week but was flat out denied. Maybe the Disney star thought that she could pass for over 21 with her new tattoo. It’s too bad that it’s public knowledge exactly how much of a jailbait the singer actually is. Miley showed up to the club with her posse but her parade was quickly rained on when she was reminded by the doorman that she was still a minor. That should have knocked her down by a couple of notches. And I think that it’s about time that a club actually lived up to their 21 and over rule!

Demi Lovato Makes Out with Joe Jonas

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Demi Lovato was recently seen sucking face with none other than Joe Jonas. But to all you Jonas Brothers fans, don’t get your panties in a twist because the two Disney stars just got paid to do it. Insiders on their new film ‘Camp Rock 2’ confirmed that a major lip lock is in the works for their characters. Other news from the set reveals that Nick Jonas also gets a love interest in the movie. However, there’s no love for Kevin Jonas though. Oh well, in real life, he’s the only one who’s got a steady romance anyway and he’s getting married soon.

Selena Gomez Wants it That Way

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

For some reason I can’t really comprehend, Selena Gomez decided to pull out a Backstreet Boys cover of ‘I Want it That Way’ at her concert in San Diego last weekend. The poor Disney starlet had to sing the song well below her register – or maybe she just can’t sing it that well. Selena sounded like she smoked a pack of cigarettes before taking the stage. She couldn’t even sing most of the song! Some backup singer named Greg had to jump in to save her from further humiliation. Whose idea was all of this? If I didn’t know any better, I would say that she’s gotten crazy.

Joe Jonas Sleeps Over with Demi Lovato

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Disney tween pop royalty Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas have been seen together quite a lot lately but everyone’s just chalking it up to the fact that they are filming ‘Camp Rock 2’. However, the Jonas Brothers singer was recently caught walking out of Demi’s house early Friday morning after reportedly having spent the night. Now that’s a walk of shame if I’ve ever seen one. It’s being said that the kids had a chaperone in the form of Demi’s dad but you can’t expect us to believe that absolutely nothing happened, purity ring or not. We’ve all been teenagers once and parents have to sleep at some point.

Disney bosses are reportedly keen to sign up Britain’s Got Talent finalist Shaheen Jafargholi for potential movie roles

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Disney bosses are reportedly keen to sign up Britain’s Got Talent finalist Shaheen Jafargholi for potential movie roles.

Twelve-year-old Shaheen made the top ten in the British talent show, and now reports claim Disney want him to appear in their movies.

A source said: “Disney have been watching Shaheen. They are looking at potential movie roles that will make him an international superstar.”

The source added: “It just shows the level of talent this year that one of the world’s biggest film companies wants to sign him when he did not even make the top three.”

The source added: “And Disney really know how to create superstars.”

Jonas Brothers Over Miley Cyrus

Friday, February 27th, 2009

If you need further proof that Disney has a death grip on the youth of the world, just look at the ticket sales of the Jonas Brothers movie ‘Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience’. Tickets for the movie account for more than half of all ticket sales on two online ticket selling sites with more than 700 screenings sold out a day before the opening. The spectacle is also much easier on the check book than an actual concert ticket. At the rate this is going, it’s pretty obvious that the band of brothers is going to top Miley Cyrus’ 3D concert.

DANIELLE FISHEL HONORED BY PLANET HOLLYWOOD

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Who? Danielle who?
Don’t know who Danielle Fishel is?
Her real name may not be familiar but I’m pretty sure you she kinda looks like that chick chick Topanga in the Disney show Boy Meets World.
Hahahah! THAT’S HER! My my, she’s gotten old hasn’t she?
Hopefully they inscribed Topanga instead of Danielle Fishel as most of us wouldn’t know who the hell Danielle Fishel is.

Selena Gomez Talks Carrie Underwood

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Despite claiming to be drama-free, Carrie Underwood’s recent anti-politics comments have garnered the country crooner negative attention. Disney’s newest princess Selena Gomez responded to Carrie’s statement that celebrities should not make public political endorsements with some disapproval. She said “A lot of people do look up to certain celebrities and will follow in their footsteps. I think you just have to be aware of what you’re saying.” Although the young star is not yet old enough to vote, she was active in encouraging the under-18 crowd to educate themselves. Selena helped launch UR Vote Counts, which conducted a faux election for teens with voting booths set up in malls.

Join Selena’s Band

Monday, October 20th, 2008

If you think you’ve got what it takes to jam with cutie Selena Gomez, then try auditioning for her band. The new Disney princess is trying to make her mark in pop stardom by forming her own band for which auditions are ongoing while she is in the studio recording vocals. Selena says “We plan on holding auditions in Hollywood, and in the meantime I will be in the studio recording some of the songs. As far as actual band members right now, we do not have any, but it is getting closer and closer and I am really excited to be in the studio.”
