Dynasty_Barbie_doll.jpg

Former TV rivals Joan Collins and Linda Evans have been immortalised – in plastic. The duelling duo’s Dynasty characters have been turned into dolls by toy giant Mattel. The Dynasty Doll Collection features the glamorous characters Krystle Carrington, played by Evans, and Alexis Carrington Colby, played by Collins. Embodying the sass and wicked streak of Alexis, the Alexis Barbie Doll makes a bold statement with her golden gown and glittery jewellery. The doll’s brunette hair and dramatic make-up perfectly capture her character’s allure and deviousness. Blond, chic, and oh so stylish, the Krystle Barbie doll sparkles in jewels that dazzle and delight. Dressed in her signature white-sheath gown with shoulder pads, inspired by the show’s original Nolan Miller designs, the doll embodies Krystle’s sophisticated style and glamorous beauty. The dolls, which have been released to coincide with Dynasty’s 30th anniversary, are available through barbiecollector

Christina Hendricks says she’s given all her family and friends her Barbie doll. The actress was the inspiration for one of Mattel’s Barbie-style dolls based on the Mad Men TV show. She spoke about how much she loved the figurine as she appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I’m such a girly girl,” she said. “I played with Barbies my whole childhood. “I have millions of them and I keep giving them to my friends, saying, ‘Here’s my doll!’” The actress revealed to Ellen the secret to her Joan Holloway’s sexy signature walk. “It’s really just about knowing you are being watched,” she said. “You put a lilt swing in and it helps to lift your hands up like cat paws.” The 35-year-old also shared a picture of herself before she became the famed-for-her-curves TV star. “If I went to my high-school reunion nobody would recognise me,” she said. “I was a bit of a misfit in high school. What you can’t see in this picture is that the back of my head is shaved.”

Justin Bieber Gets Dolled Up

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Justin Bieber is taking over Christmas this year and likely to take over birthdays and every other holiday too. The pop sensation has just launched a new website featuring a variety of exclusive merchandise, including teddy bears, clothes and singing action figures. I bet there will hundreds less lonely girls this holiday season after begging their parents for a doll version of their favorite teen singer. This is absolutely crazy. I wonder if Ken is worried about Barbie leaving him because of Justin. That would be completely tragic. I can already imagine little girls biting the heads off of their Barbie dolls for being seen with the Justin doll.

The famous toy couple can be seen meeting for the first time in the latest movie from Disney-Pixar.

In a preview clip of the film, Barbie looks impressed when Ken says he has a “whole room for trying on clothes” in his toy house.

But, after flexing his muscles, and generally looking pleased with himself, Ken admits that he has “everything except someone to share it with”.

In the new movie, Jodi Benson, who was the voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid, plays Barbie, while Batman star Michael Keaton takes on the role of Ken.

Toy Story 3 follows the adventures of Woody, Buzz and Hamm after they get dumped in a daycare centre when their owner Andy goes to college.

It is due for release in the UK on 23 July.

Barbie is going on a diet.

The iconic doll is shedding the pounds in a redesign being overseen by French shoemaker to the stars Christian Louboutin.

The footwear designer, whose shoes are famous for their red soles, is designing three Barbie dolls to celebrate the doll’s 50th anniversary.

Twilight characters immortalised – in plastic – as Barbie dolls

Twilight characters Edward and Bella will forever be immortalised… in plastic!

The hit ?lm – which struck the hearts of millions worldwide, with a Romeo & Juliet-style romance between mortal Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen – will now be immortalised not by a vampire’s bite, but by Barbie dolls.

The Twilight Barbies pay tribute to one of America’s favourite on-screen couples, played by heart-throb Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Edward’s strong jawline and vampire-glow and Bella’s long brunette hair and innocent face showcase the pivotal Forever 17 scene from the ?lm.

The Twilight Barbies are a must-have for Twilight ?lm fans and Barbie collectors alike.

In anticipation for the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the dolls will be available from November 1, 2009 for a suggested retail price of $24.95 each through Walmart, Walmart.com, Barbie Collector Dealers, Barbie Collector Catalog and www.barbiecollector.com

Demi Moore reportedly loves dolls of both genders

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Demi Moore has a passion for dolls, collecting them in their thousands, it was reported.

While some might say husband Ashton Kutcher is one of them, Kutcher apparently thinks otherwise.

He reportedly tweeted that he “spent the day going through wifey’s insane doll collection. 3000 thousand contemporary art dolls all staring at U.”

Kutcher went on to tweet: “I’m gonna have nightmares.”

Apparently feeling crowded out by the dolls, Kutcher tweeted that he was going to convince “wifey” to open up a doll museum.

He reports that she does have a favourite type of doll – GI Joes and Barbies – revealing that her dolls are mixed sex. Moore starred in the 1997 movie GI Jane.

Christina Aguilera is No Barbie

Monday, December 29th, 2008

There have been some rumors going all around the internet that Barbie was coming out with a doll resembling Christina Aguilera. Unfortunately for all of you fans out there, a Mattel spokesperson has thwarted the rumors saying “There is no Barbie coming out resembling Christina Aguilera; however, there have been Barbie fashions in the past that were inspired by celebrities.” Considering the fashions that Christina has been recently sporting, they might as well have just come out with a Lady Gaga Barbie. It’s a good thing though that the folks at Mattel didn’t get any inspiration from Christina’s fashion during her dirty days.

Katy Perry is a Doll

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Katy Perry fans better get ready as a limited edition doll of the ‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer has been released. You creeps better get those dirty thoughts out of your head! The doll retails at $49.99 and is similar to the one seen in her video for Madonna-loved song ‘Ur So Gay’. The doll maker, New York based toy maker Integrity Toys, says that it is only making 500 of the Katy dolls. I wonder what possessed them to want to make a Katy doll. Oh well, that’s capitalism at its best. When one item is hot, everything with that item’s name is hot by association.

Valley of the Dolls – Gwen Stefani and Heath as the Joker

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

gwen-stefani-dolls.jpgheath-ledger-doll.jpg

Didn’t your My Buddy doll remind you a little too much of Chuckie? Who in their right mind wants a doll that looks like a real person? Dolls are for imaginative play.

Not true for many….The Toy Fair in New York city yesterday was the display for a number of dolls who look like stars. From a Gwen Stefani doll (like someone will buy that for their kids??) to an Ashley Tisdale doll (pre-nose job), you name it, it was there.

There was even a doll of Bindi Irwin. As creepy as that is, the creepiest by far was the Heath Ledger doll. His family says they approved the project, which will feature Heath as the Joker.

Coming to a toy store near you…..

Not only did she make us look at her dressed like a doll…now she wants us to actually BUY her dolls?!

Kids will be lining up to buy a Marie Osmond Dancing-inspired doll from QVC. Dolls debut on November 29 at 6 p.m. There are four in the collection, each sporting an outfit that Marie wore on the show.

There’s the Boogie Woogie doll, the Paso Doble doll, the Quickstep doll, and the Freestyle doll from the season finale. There were two other dolls, the Samba doll and the Fox Trot dall, but both sold out previously.

Aww, Mom, can I have one for Christmas? Pleeeeaaassse? Yeah, right. I have no desire to encourage Marie’s shameless self promotion.

Gwen Gets Dolled Up

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

gwen-stefani.jpg

Gwen Stefani is a doll. Literally. Much like many female pop stars of this generation, Gwen released her own doll line. It apparently has done so well that she’s set to come out with a whole new collection. The looks of which were inspired by the look of her latest ‘Sweet Escape’ album.

Now this is the right type of marketing. Go out and offer fans things with your name instead of having brands put their name on you. And just think, we can all get our mini Gwen’s to play party animal and get them drunk and stoned with Wino’s Double Trouble Combo!

The Olsen Twins

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

blog5-olsen-twins.jpg

The Olsen Twins are going for the classic look these days with all the black and white they have been wearing. Although they find an odd need to dress in opposite every time. They’re only managing to look like a massive Oreo cookie or a Yin and Yang symbol more than anything. Ebony and Ivory ain’t moving over.

But guess what? They have recently announced that they will be making a new line of clothing that will include leather jackets, T-shirts, pencil skirts, cashmere sweaters, fur jackets, silk dresses and mini dresses, ranging from about $80 to $600 when they hit upscale New York stores like Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman this fall.

If you’re willing to spend hundreds of dollars on clothes, would you go get one “designed” by an Olsen? It’s not like they have the sense of style to inspire anything.
