Cherie Currie recently talked to Spin magazine to talk about what she thought when she saw the movie ‘The Runaways’, which is about her band with Joan Jett back in the 70s. The iconic rock star said “I was stunned. When you live something, your first reaction is to say, ‘Well, that’s not right’ or “Wait a minute, it didn’t happen that way.’ Then Joan and I saw it again and thought, ‘Wow, this is really good.’ It takes time for it to sink in. I thought the performances were just incredible.” I wonder what she felt when she heard Kristen Stewart’s and Dakota Fanning’s renditions of some of their songs.
Avatar star Zoe Saldana is taking a step away from sci-fi flicks to become the face of Avon.
The 31-year-old beauty is well known for playing Uhura in Star Trek and Neytiri in James Cameron’s movie Avatar.
She is now set to become the face of an Avon fragrance called Eternal Magic, which makes its debut in April.
According to Avon, the perfume ‘takes inspiration from the rare Princess Monaco Rose’.
Talking about her latest role, Saldana said: “It means so much to me to be associated with a company that shares my values and believes in empowering women.”
Cristiano Ronaldo has replaced David Beckham as the model for Emporio Armani’s underwear range.
Armani announced Ronaldo would be taking over from Beckham who has been the body of the Armani range for four years.
Beckham’s image in underwear he has promoted for Armani is unforgettable and bordering on iconic. His wife, Victoria Beckham, has also posed for the range, both by herself and with her husband.
Ronaldo, a steamy Portuguese rising soccer star who was spotted out in Los Angeles with Paris Hilton earlier this year, will be the “new official worldwide testimonial” for the label’s Men’s Underwear and Armani Jeans lines.
He will grace posters and billboards for the next Spring/Summer line.
Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has sought comfort in her footballer husband David Beckham after her US career has reportedly started to crumble.
After moving to Los Angeles two years ago, the 35-year-old has battled to keep a successful fashion line and TV career but is now feeling low after sales of her denim clothing line dVb have started to decline.
Despite this, Victoria is determined not to let her US career go down the drain.
A source told British Reveal magazine: “Victoria is not going to let these setbacks get to her. She’s putting on a brave face and will continue to work harder on her fashion lines. She just wants to concentrate on her new range and stay strong.”
The source added: “Things haven’t been going Posh’s way and she’s been feeling down about the whole thing but David has been a real support when she’s feeling low.”
Reality star Whitney Port’s fashion line is set to debut at the New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Port’s line Whitney Eve is inspired by what she refers to as “funderland”.
The 24-year-old said: “We’re doing kind of like Alice in Wonderland goes to a really chic cocktail party. It’s really fun and playful and feminine and flirty.”
The City star insists her passion for fashion is real and not just for reality TV.
Whitney said: “Living in New York and being part of the entertainment industry, obviously fashion plays a huge role in that, so all of us find passions within that.
“I pretty much always knew I wanted to be a designer, but I just took some shortcuts along the way and am finally being able to do what I’ve always wanted. So, television aside, I really am living out my dream.”
Whitney’s former Hills co-star Lauren Conrad is set to follow in the footsteps of Whit and create her own fashion line to be strutted down the catwalks.
X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has reportedly slated Simon Cowell for having “boring” fashion sense.
British newspaper The Sun claims that the singer said she wants to get her 49-year-old fellow judge to dress in something more exciting than his typical jeans and T-shirt combination.
The 37-year-old said: “He’s letting the side down a bit. We just need him to ditch the boring trousers and T-shirts. It’s so much fun dressing up. I think it’s a really important part of the show – the contestants come along expecting a special day.”
Minogue and fellow female judge on the talent competition Cheryl Cole receive a clothing allowance for the show.
She added: “Cheryl and I both love to dress up and even Louis has made more of an effort this year.”
Jessica Simpson is slowly trying to make a name for herself in the fashion world. The failed country singer has already enjoyed success with her clothes, shoes, bathing suits and perfumes but now, Jess is launching a line of lingerie. She says that she is developing a “great collection of feminine, sexy, regular and full-figured bras which are going to be amazing. We are also working on a sleepwear collection that I know I will live in. We have focused on using really soft fabrics that feel good against your skin. The whole line centers around great basics for every day that are comfortable and fit your body. We spent a lot of time on the details. I really wanted to make this line special.”
GI Joe star Sienna Miller admitted she once dyed her naturally-blonde hair brown with henna and it went “bright green”.
Sienna, 27, admitted she took drastic measures to try and restore her hair back to a normal colour.
She said: “When I went brunette, I stupidly dyed it myself with henna, not knowing it’s the worst thing you can put on blonde hair. It went bright green.
“The only thing that would get the green out was tomato ketchup. I’d have to sit with ketchup on my hair every week.”
Sienna, whose new movie GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra is out in cinemas now, said she also had a hair disaster when she was a teenager.
She said: “Oh, not good. I was short, skinny, no boobs – still haven’t really got them! I went through a spotty 14-year-old phase, which I remember getting moody about.
“I wanted to look like Winona Ryder, so I took in a photo of her pixie cut and came out looking like Wee Jimmy Krankie.”
Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has admitted she is a “jeans” and “ballet flats” kind of girl.
Emma, 19, has previously been spotted in Chanel for premieres and posh events but she admitted she like to be casual on a day-to-day basis.
She said: “I live, really, in jeans from Topshop, blazers from Ralph Lauren or Reiss, and ballet flats.”
She added: “It’s very hard to describe your own style. And I’m young, so I’m still experimenting. But I think it’s quite British and very much about individuality.”
Emma also admitted she doesn’t like to look “perfect” and prefers to wear something more individual.
She said: “There’s nothing interesting about looking perfect – you lose the point. You want what you’re wearing to say something about you, about who you are.”
Donatella Versace reportedly received a personal request from Janet Jackson to outfit the entire Jackson family in Versace for this past Tuesday’s memorial service for the late King of Pop Michael Jackson. Janet, LaToya, the Jackson brothers and Michael’s children all wore custom-made Versace in honor of the iconic singer, who had a long love affair with the Italian fashion house. Michael was often seen wearing Versace both on and off stage and was a big fan of the late Gianni Versace’s designs. The whole day was a big tribute to Michael. And if the family chose to honor even his love of clothes, then so be it.
Gossip star Beth Ditto has been receiving advice on her plus-size clothing range from model Kate Moss, she has revealed.
Beth, 28, is designing a range of plus-size clothes for British store Evans, and Topshop designer Kate, 35, has been giving her advice.
Beth said: "Kate gave me loads of advice. There were lots of things I didn’t know about, all the industry stuff like order times and things like that. But she told me to just get involved with everything, and really push my ideas."
Beth was recently at Radio One’s Big Weekend and said she avoided Lycra catsuits this time.
She added to British newspaper the Daily Mirror: "There were no catsuits this time, not on me anyway. I had about 30 dresses to choose from. I was even thinking of dressing up as Miss Piggy."
The model recently had her ear pierced five times recently. A source had this to say about Kate Moss’ new fashion “design”: “Kate spent around £90 on piercings. She’s picked a very tricky part of the body because the cartilage on the side of the ear takes up to a year to heal.” Are models even allowed to do something like that? Well, most definitely Kate Moss’ decision to slaughter her ear will have some sort of effect on her career. But what is she going for? Modeling for new-age punk outfits or something of the sorts? I thought piercing yourself senselessly died out with the last band that played true punk.
Actress Sienna Miller has tried to play down suggestion that she will over a period of time give up acting completely and focus on creating a successful clothing line label. The star launched her own collection line Twenty8Twelve with sister Savannah, in 2007, and they hit the runway at London Fashion Week on Sunday to present their Fall ‘09 range.
She says, “I’m not giving up acting, I love acting. But I also love working with my sister. We’ve always been two sisters playing dress-up, ever since we were kids, and we’re still doing it.”
Yeah I think she made the right comments, just a little success does not mean she going to find a strong foothold in the cut throat world of designing clothes. You have to produce great stuff that people would love to buy season after season for year together.
And bet you if at all she can do that then it will be hard to stay put with her acting career. I think we will be fine without her and we will not be lost if we lose her to the fashion industry, I’m preparing her a farewell speech already.
According to reports, Kate is now going to be designing a range of pants for Topshop.
Topshop’s Sir Philip Green remains mum on the details of the deal, saying only “Put it this way, I look after her.”
Rumors claim that Kate Moss is offered $1.5 million-a-year for her collection of underpants, that is.
Check out the new K-DCMA shoe collection! It is the first footwear collaboration from Good Charlotte members, twins Benji and Joel Madden’s DCMA Collective and K-Swiss. The collection is made up of eleven shoes with their trademark brass knuckles, DCMA name and a lot of skulls. There are 7 men’s shoes, 5 of which are skimmers and 2 zedlers, and 4 women’s shoes, all of which are skimmers. The prices ranges from $60-$70. Who wants to send me a Christmas gift? I’ll take the shoes from their collection! I like brass knuckles and I like skulls. I win on that one.
Apparently, the “Devil” herself, Anna Wintour, may soon be quitting her day job real soon.
Anna has been the Editor-in-chief of American Vogue since 1988, the bobbed fashion icon also oversees Fashion Rocks and Teen Vogue. She was also in charge of Men’s Vogue until it recently went under.
Reports claim that the reason she is quitting is because her age is catching up with her, just “letting Men’s Vogue close instead of fighting for it.” The rumor is that she’s been sending out feelers for a replacement to S.I. Newhouse. Her contract is about to end and according to sources, Anna “feels she’s done it all and had enough.”
A rep for Anna called the rumors “completely unfounded.”
Miley Cyrus is really starting to creep me out. What 15-year old licks her lips at her 20-year old rumored boyfriend during a runway show? It’s not only inappropriate and tacky, it’s straight up unprofessional. Miley Cyrus and her mom were both in attendance for one of Justin Gaston’s fashion shows and a spy says that Miley and Justin were joined at the lips backstage. Someone even said that the couple was heard planning various sordid after party activities, including a sleepover at Justin’s place. Miley’s presence at the show was certainly felt at that show. It caused such a fuss that other celebrities like Heidi Klum went virtually unnoticed.

People reports that LAMB founder Gwen Stefani will be launching an exclusive line of uniforms for W Hotels bar staff. Jenni Benzaquen, the director of public relations for W Hotels said “Gwen Stefani was in our lounge last season, and through that relationship she’s doing uniforms for the [Rande] Gerber bars located in W Hotels.” Gwen Stefani said “I wanted to design a super cute dress that I would be excited to have in my own closet and approached it in the same way I think about my clothing for a tour. We’ve designed a sexy and comfortable outfit for these women to wear out on their own stage every night.”
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz was set to premiere a new collection of tops designed by her to be sold exclusively at Wet Seal. The launch date was April 22 and after just a bit over a month later, her so-called designs are doing so poorly that they’re practically giving it away for free. The line started out with a dozen different shirts originally marked at $19.50. Now, they’re being sold on Wet Seal’s website for just $4.99. Poor Ashlee, her shirts cost less than a latte. Much like her music and acting career, her clothing line may not have gone so well but at least she still has her new husband and baby on the way to fall back on. Let’s just hope that she doesn’t decide to make baby clothes now.
Christina Aguilera, in cooperation with P&G Prestige Products, is set to debut a new fragrance called ‘Inspire’ on September 1. The 27-year old powerhouse singer has set aside her music career to focus more on being a new mother and on her other ventures. According to WWD, “Inspire is a fragrance for women, which opens with fruity notes of mango, citrus and freesia, with accentuated tuberose, accompanied by white rose and gardenia in the heart. Accords of orange blossom from Valencia, sandalwood and musk are added on top of the white bouquet… Aguilera announces that the most highlighted note is seductive tuberose, with freesia and musk, and it seems to her that these notes remind of tones in perfumes for men.”
